He has visited cities as large as Los Angeles and towns as tiny as Newton, Iowa (population 15,579). He has pitched stimulus plans in Peoria, and Iraq war timetables in North Carolina.
But not once in President Obama’s first 100 days has he set foot in New York – the U.S. city that contributed the most money to his campaign, and the state that gave him more votes than all but California (where he has made two stops).
What’s up with that?
“It certainly is rude, but not surprising,” joked Democratic consultant Hank Sheinkopf, noting that Obama hardly has to worry about shoring up support in big blue New York. “Why would you spend time here when you know you got it?”
